'An absolute privilege to have stayed in this cottage.  Sheep and cattle grazing nearby, birdsong, sound of the waves and a sleepy little village.  The cosiest fire ever.  It is the kind of cottage you fall in love with the minute you walk in and wished you owned it yourself.  The sense of a warm hug.  I felt so sad to leave.  A 10 star rating'

'Wonderful cottage, so lovely decorated, terrific view and gorgeous location !!! We had unfortunately only 3 days for this beautiful house and were spontaneously feeling at home. While leaving we were already planning to come back for a whole week next year! Thank you David for this amazing stay !'

'Absolutely loved this place! My family and I were visiting Ireland for my parents anniversary. After a week of travelling around the country, we wanted a spot we could just relax in. This was perfect! Adorable house in a great location. Not only did we have stunning views of the ocean and Slievemore mountain but we could watch the sheep and cows in the surrounding fields right from our windows'

'Stunning location right on the water's edge. Sheep came to visit us in the garden every day. Beach and local café only 1 min walk. The house is even better in real life. So modern, stylish and functional. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!'

'When you are greeted by the sound of waves lapping the shore and skylarks singing overhead, then you will know you have found this place! The cottage is really tastefully decorated and you will feel instantly at home. Every time you walk into the kitchen the ocean views take your breath away. David (the owner) was an absolute pleasure to deal with. The cottage is in a perfect location for trips around the area to take in the stunning vistas, beaches and sunsets.  We would definitely stay in this cottage again - if you need "an escape by the sea" then you need to stay here!'

'Simply perfect. A sensitively and lovingly renovated cottage in an incredible location! This is the place you dream about when you dream about staying in a cottage by the sea. Fully equipped with everything you will need for a comfortable stay, it manages to be both spacious & bright and warm & cosy at the same time.  David is a great host who knows the island well and made sure I had everything I needed for an easy arrival and a great stay. I will definitely be back!'

'We stayed at The Old Fisherman's Cottage for 3 nights over Easter. The accommodation was superb, a beautifully renovated cottage almost surrounded by stunning coastline... a little piece of heaven on earth. It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. As we have 2 young kids, The wood burning stove made for some cosy evenings in and the kids loved their bunk beds. The cottage is also very child friendly. David, the owner, was wonderful to deal with and gave great advice and recommendations on places to eat and visit during our first stay on Achill Island. We will certainly return and can't recommend it highly enough to anyone considering booking.'

'The Old Fisherman's Cottage is an excellent place to stay. The location is idyllic. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated. The kitchen is excellently equipped. The beds are very cozy and comfy. Bathroom spotless. We had a great stay and have no faults whatsoever. Everything was exactly as shown in pictures. You will not be disappointed!'

'This was the best airbnb we've ever stayed in! David's place was seriously amazing. My husband and I had the most relaxing, beautiful time there. The location is incredible, look outside and you'll see the ocean, green rolling hills, a mountain, and quite often lots of sheep! David left clear instructions on how everything works and where we could find things, and started our stay off right with a bottle of Prosecco and fire all ready for us to light in the fireplace. We visited in the "off season" for the island, so not many local places were open, but we loved being able to cook in the beautiful and well equipped kitchen! The house was beautifully decorated, spacious and furnished to feel like it was really our home away from home. We would definitely recommend staying here and hope to return someday. We cannot say enough about what an amazing place this is to stay and how wonderful Achill Island is.'

'The Old Fisherman's Cottage was just perfect for our family of five. The boys enjoyed the bunk bed room and our teenaged daughter was happy to have a big, cozy room all to herself. My husband and I loved being able to look at the sea from our bedroom window each morning. Being off season, there were not many restaurant options available as most had just closed for the season only days before our arrival. This was not a problem however, as the kitchen was very well equipped for us to have our meals at home, with the added bonus of sea views from the dining table!
We truly enjoyed Achill island and spent most of our time exploring the coast and looking for treasures on the many beautiful beaches. We did have a very wet, cold, windy afternoon while there, again not a problem as we were happy to stay in, light the fire and cozy up on the very comfortable couches and watch a movie.
David really knows how to make his guests feel welcome. We were pleasantly surprised to find luxury toiletries, a bottle of prosecco in the fridge and a signature Achill candle for us to keep. I am still surprised at the value for money here.  Loved this cottage and can't wait to return next summer!'

'We stayed at The Old Fisherman's Cottage in October and had the most wonderful sunny week. The cottage is everything you desire and need, an extremely well equipped kitchen which we used most of the week. The little touches on arrival were so thoughtful, prosecco and a lovely scented candle. The cottage is clean, comfortable, warm, cosy and beautifully styled. We lit the log burner most nights but you didn't really need it, but it was a lovely bonus. The views from the cottage are stunning and you're only a very short walk away from the most beautiful beaches. We love hiking and spent our week exploring the island and walked from the door most times, Slievemore mountain is a must, views from the top are spectacular. There's information on the local restaurants and pubs. Our holiday was relaxing and peaceful, we felt at home as soon as we arrived. We will be going back. We absolutely loved it, thank you David.'

'The Old Fisherman's Cottage was the perfect stay for the end of our trip to Ireland which had mainly been an adventure of one night stays. Here, at the Cottage, we were able to really relax over the four days and enjoy the beautiful countryside of Achill with close friends. The cottage is beautifully designed and well equipped with everything we needed.  It was really wonderful to be visiting such a remote area as Achill Island but be staying in a house that was so clean and modern. Our friend, who also owns a local cottage that is in need of renovation, found the house very inspiring. Communication with David was easy, clear and very friendly. The arrangement of our arrival and departure was equally seamless. We will definitely be visiting Achill Island again and there is only one place we will even consider staying - The Old Fisherman's Cottage. Thank you, David for sharing your home with us. We look forward to our return.'

'We've had a wonderful holiday in your amazing and beautiful cottage, thank you.  We've adored our time in the kitchen with the stunning views and visits from the sheep!  It's a perfect holiday home in a perfect location.  We can't wait to come back!  The island is wonderful, lots of deserted beaches to explore, haven't slept so well in years'

'We loved our stay in this quaint cottage.  It is very cosy and decorated very well.  The location is fantastic with lovely views and very close to a gorgeous, sheltered beach.  A great location to explore the rest of the island and the surrounding area.'

'The Old Fisherman's Cottage is truly a wonderful home to have for a vacation.  We loved everything about it - the decor, the kitchen, the garden, the views, the inquisitive sheep who like to visit.  I could go on and on!  Check-in was a breeze.  Overall a magnificent experience.  Thank you again David, we would love to come back.'

'Oh....my....god....David!!!! It is GORGEOUS!! You have wonderful taste!  Every little detail, every piece of decoration/art, everything is perfect!  It couldn't be any better. It's perfect.  Well, there is a problem...we're not going to want to leave!

We're already talking about when we could come back. I'm not sure I'll tell friends though, I want to keep it for ourselves. Thanks for sharing!'

'The Old Fisherman's Cottage is distinct and different from your ordinary run-of-the-mill accommodation in the West of Ireland . There is a great sense of both tradition and style about this charming cottage. It sits perfectly into the Achill landscape. Protected by the strong arms of Slievemore mountain, yet exposed enough to get that wild Atlantic feeling. The greys and whites of land- and seascape are perfectly mirrored in the cottage interior. David's welcoming touches are much appreciated and set the mood for perfect relaxation and tranquility. Children can play in the big garden and encounter sheep at close range. The bench at the end of the garden serves as gathering place for tea and wine lovers alike. And if you are looking for the perfect place for meditation... you got it. The cottage is warm and cosy and yet gives you a sense of how harsh life must have been for previous generations. Thanks David for such an amazing (too short a) time in your cottage.'

'House is beautiful, all we could ask for a summer get away, view is fantastic.
We may have to put in a standing order for every summer!
Kids started surfing and loving it, especially amused with the daily visits from the sheep.
It's a great house to share!'
